My sincere apologies for neglecting this blog! It has been quite some time since I have updated this site because I have been super busy this past fall and winter. I got married, finished grad school, and got a "real" job! Things have been moving along at a very quick pace for me. Also, I have been mainly focused on rope climbing the past 2 years. We have been visiting the Obed almost exclusively and are psyched on the new Deep Creek area in Chattanooga. I am embarrassed to say that I have not even been down to the Bald this fall or winter season of 2011 - 2012.
Well, that is all about to change, and the first thing is update this site! As you can see we have a new look to the overall site. You can still purchase the guide from the link on the left. All posts are still up and running. Folks have been asking for beta and a few new FA's have gone up. Also, the New Problems post is still full of great new FA information from the past few years that this blog has been up. Be sure to check out all the new problems in that post that are not in the guide. Next, the Hanging Chain Boulders post is still current with information on access and problems out there. Lastly, there is a brand new slide show! Click on the slideshow to view the fresh and clean boulder photos to get you psyched!
For me, I will be heading down there at the beginning of the year during the week. I will be focusing all of my effort on new FA's at the Hanging Chain Boulders, so if you want to join me, just message me on Facebook. Also, I will be doing some field research for the new guidebook, which will hopefully be out in fall of 2012.
Speaking of the new guide, here are some goodie details!
- It will contain around 1,500 boulder problems
- Every single boulder problem will have a photo in the book
- Easier to follow coloring system will be employed (green, yellow, and red)
- All the photos will be improved "winter time" photos, with no leaves, shadows, etc...
- Clearer descriptions will be given
- A "Best Of" list
- Several bouldering circuits will be included
- Updated names and grades
So, starting in January, I will be down there in full-swing during the week sending new stuff at the Hanging Chain Boulders, taking tons of photos, and updating this blog as much as possible. I know that you all enjoy this blog and I want to do my best for as long as I can to keep it fresh and up to date with the most current and accurate information. In this way, it will be useful to all who visit it and Rumbling Bald.
Take care this winter season and send all of your projects!!!
God Bless, Chris
